Project Aptiv

Aptiv is a global technology company that develops safer, greener and more connected solutions enabling the future of mobility. Their new Dublin based headquarters, feature some of  Specialist Glass’ latest glass products and neat framing systems.

The Designers on the Aptiv project wanted to integrate Japanese Style screens into the kitchen and breakout area.  In traditional Japanese architecture, a shōji is a door, window or room divider consisting of translucent paper over a frame of wood which holds together a lattice of wood or bamboo.

In collaboration with the designers, we created a Japanese styled framing system, in a robust aluminium, powder coated in a matt black finish, perfect for use in this high traffic social space. The framing, glass and integrated lighting created interest and a sense of space. The screens were used to mask base build columns and create an illusion of natural light, making this a welcoming and bright space for all.

Specialist Glass used an obscure reeded glass within the screens which is a more robust solution than the traditional Japanese paper window light.

Our team really enjoyed working on this project from concept to completion and it is just a taster of what is possible. Bespoke Glass Design is our forte, all you need to do is talk to us.
